This type of pallet storage system is for high density storage operations that need safer operations, less rack damage, more through put of products, and higher productivity operations. Pushback pallet rack systems significantly increase the number of pallets that are stored in a warehouse or distribution center.
Configurations of pushback pallet racks range from two to six pallets deep and up to four or more levels high. This is what makes this pallet rack system so versatile. This versatility is based on the aim of the pushback pallet rack. The design is based on a fixed stationary structure with nested carts on inclined rails. Pallets are loaded on these carts from the front. After the first pallet is loaded all pallets that follow push the preceding pallet backwards until the pushback pallet rack is full.
The pushback pallet rack system is designed for a last in first out (LIFO) system. This type of rack storage is not designed for a first in first out (FIFO) inventory system. This makes it ideal for products that do not have a shelve life or situations where the volume of product distribution is so great that the shelve life concern is not necessary. This type of rack system provides high density storage and one bay may be dedicated to more than one product. It can be used with most fork truck operations that allow loading and unloading from the front. It is not suitable for personnel picker trucks that allow people to access the pallets for inventory or other situations.
