We carry the most common single deep rack, known as the selective pallet rack. These racks are designed for storing one pallet for low density storage of products. The selective pallet rack system is the most popular because it is versatile. It can be arranged in any configuration to meet any warehousing requirement. It can be used with any type of pallet truck and is the least expensive on the market today. Selective pallet rack are easy to assemble and come in two basic configurations. The first is the tear drop or clip in configuration. The name "tear drop" is based on the fact that the holes on the vertical column are shaped like a tear drop. This tear drop shape allows the cross horizontal beams of the rack to be easily assembled by having their clips slip easily into the tear drops. Pallets are then placed on the cross horizontal beams for storage. The advantage of the tear drop selective pallet rack system is that its configuration can be quickly and easily changed.
The second selective pallet rack system is called the "structural" configuration. This name is derived from the fact that the uprights and cross horizontal beams are bolted together. This rack system is not as easy to install; however it is sturdier and can be stacked higher. In addition this system is designed for more permanent installations in which the rack configuration will rarely be changed. Like the tear drop configuration the pallets rest on the cross horizontal beams. Pallets are typically stored one high and used for low density warehouse storage.
One reason why the selective pallet rack system is so popular is that products stored on the racks are easy to access for inventory or for other reasons. Additionally the selective pallet rack system is typically used in large big box distribution centers, cold storage warehouses, wholesale stores, and retail store inventory rooms.
