Selective rack or single selective rack is one of the most common styles of
pallet rack. It is one pallet deep, typically 2-3 pallets per beam level,
and multiple pallets high. It’s design allows access to all skus at any given
time. The most common economical design in the rollform (hot rolled steel)
market is the teardrop design. It’s interlocking style is boltless, easy to
assemble, and is available in a variety of strengths for just about every
application. The teardrop design can be found at many large warehouse stores,
such as Costco and Home Depot.

Uprights: Common sizes for uprights start at 8’ tall and go as high in rollform as 30’ tall.
Common depths for uprights are 24" (hand stack), 36" (hand stack and/or small pallets and/or turned
pallet applications), 42" & 44" & 48" for typical 48" deep pallets). 42" and 44" are by far the most
popular size for uprights because it allows for a 48" deep pallet to overhang the beams by 2-3" on
the front and back. Most rollform uprights allow for adjustability on 2" centers.
|
Beams: The most common size for load beams is 96" long. This length accommodates two 40" wide
pallets side by side. Load beams are available in a variety of capacities or face sizes, and
are available in the capacity ranges of 2500#’s or above. Other lengths that are available for
load beams range from 48" - 160" and are available in a variety of face sizes.

|
Accessories: Other commonly used items for selective rack include wire mesh deck(see last page),
pallet supports (wood or metal to fit in step of beam), row spacers (to maintain flue space on
back to back and provide strength), and column protectors (minimize column damage).
